Dr. Kristin Agnello, DSocSci, RPP, MCIP, RHFAC

Dr. Kristin Agnello, DSocSci, RPP, MCIP, RHFAC is an interdisciplinary scholar-practitioner based in Victoria, BC. Kristin holds a Doctor of Social Sciences with distinction, a Master of Arts in Urban Design with distinction, a Bachelor of Environmental Design Studies with distinction, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts with distinction. A Vanier Scholar, her doctoral research focused on the intersection between equity, policy, and evaluation, and was awarded the Royal Roads University Chancellor’s Medal for highest academic achievement.

Kristin is the Founder and Director of Plassurban Consulting Inc., an intersectional research and planning consultancy dedicated to addressing inequity and vulnerability in government initiatives. Kristin is a Registered Professional Planner with the Planning Institute of British Columbia, a Member of the Canadian Institute of Planners, and a past member of the Canadian Evaluation Society and the National Association of Parliamentarians. Kristin served as the Vice President (Canada) of the Commonwealth Association of Planners from 2017-2021, inaugural Chair of the Commonwealth Women in Planning Network from 2018-2021, Regional Coordinator of the South Vancouver Island Chapter of the British Columbia Council for International Cooperation from 2019-2020, is a TeachSDG Ambassador, and is an Equity Specialist with the UK Design Council. 

Kristin is widely recognized for her work toward advancing gender equality in the built environment. She has advocated for intersectional women’s equity in human settlements at two UN Commissions on the Status of Women and three World Design Summits, contributing a key voice in local and international professional and academic conversations around emerging urban design and planning practices as they relate to social and spatial equity. In 2018, Kristin was named one of Canada’s Top 25 Women of Influence and, in 2021, was recognized by the Government of Canada as part of the Women of Impact in Human Rights Gallery.
