UNITED NATIONS 64TH COMMISSION ON THE STATUS OF WOMEN

In March, 2020, the BC Council for International Cooperation welcomed our Director, Kristin Agnello, as a member of their delegation for the 64th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW64) in New York City. The 14 delegates worked collectively to draft a report on gender empowerment, women’s equality, and the SDGs for this important event. Ms. Agnello contributed three case studies exploring the relationship between SDG 5: Gender Equality and SDG11: Sustainable Cities and Communities. These case studies outline important work at the municipal, national, and multinational level.

Sadly, the outbreak of COVID-19 resulted in the cancellation of this delegation, with the 64th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women scaled back to a one-day procedural meeting. The report compiled for this event was released by BCCIC in May 2020 and can be viewed here.
